Description & identification The reported object is a decorative gold posy ring. The ring consists of a thin gold band, D-shaped in section, with a tightly set repeating pattern of tooled S-shaped indentations on the external surface, possibly for enamel, although none appears to have survived. The frame is decorated with continuous transverse incised bands or ridges on the front surface, some of which are inlaid with a darker material, possibly niello. Small annular decorative silver brooch. The frame is decorated with beading in the form of enlarged filigree. There is no restriction in the frame for the pin which has a flat plain shaft and wrap around head. External diameter 215.4 x 15mm; inner diameter 13 x 12.4mm; maximum frame thickness 1.4mm; weight 0.96g. Surviving pin length 11mm; thickness 1.4mm (some of shaft and head missing). The surviving pin is in three fragments (recent breaks, associated with discovery). In terms of size and design, the brooch is of thirteenth- to mid-fourteenth-century form.

Probably a roughout for a Neolithic polished stone axe. It was initailly described as 'A lithic implement considered to be of Acheulian date (Lower Palaeolithic) and also thought to be a handaxe, of ovate form and very regular. It is quite rounded, probably as a result of wear during burial, although a large amount of the creation process is still visible through the removed flake pattern. A lithic implement which is considered to be a handaxe of Acheulian date (Lower Palaeolithic). The blade part at the proximal end is regular and symmetrical, while the distal end is quite irregular, forming a shape akin to a scalene triangle. The flint is of a grey colour with some areas covered by a creamy patina, spread over both the dorsal and ventral faces. It is in fair condition, with flake removals remaining clearly visible despite some wear and relatively recent scarring.

A flint cordate handaxe of Acheulian (early Palaeolithic) date. The handaxe is in excellent condition, and flake removals can still be clearly seen. The flint itself is of a dark grey colour, although there is some patinisation on both the dorsal and ventral faces - of slightly different colours.
