Description & identification The reported object is a decorative gold posy ring. The ring consists of a thin gold band, D-shaped in section, with a tightly set repeating pattern of tooled S-shaped indentations on the external surface, possibly for enamel, although none appears to have survived. The internal surface in engraved with an inscription which reads ‘Though absent yet constant’ in italic letters in sentence case. Description and identification The object is small fragment (upper part) of a plain silver dress pin of bodkin-type form. The head tapers to a rounded point and is surmounted by a small, rounded knop. At the opposing end of the fragment (broken end) are the remains of an elongated rectangular aperture.
