An imcomplete Post-Medieval (AD 1650-1800) Toy Gun. The gun consists of the butt and barrel, with the stubs of an iron trigger mechanism which project both above and below the position of the lock. Some of the long cylindrical barrel is missing. It is cast in one piece with a groove along the top edge to accommodate the iron mechanism, mentioned above. The external surface is decorated with scrolls and curlicues of vegetal character. An incomplete post medieval cast copper alloy toy cannon. The cannon is 44.66mm long. There is evidence for the two central trunion bars which are missing. Also missing is a cascabel. At the breech end there is a thickened base ring from which the barrel tapers. There is a tiny vent hole on one side. From where the trunnion bars were, the barrel tapers slightly to a flared muzzle. An incomplete post-Medieval to Modern cast copper-alloy "toy" cannon of probable eighteenth to nineteenth century date (c. 1750-c. 1850). The toy is described as if it were a functioning cannon. The cascable (or cascabel) and the cascable button has a length of about 9.1mm. The base ring diameter is 7.75mm. Between the base ring and the first astragal, the vent field has a length of c. 8mm and the circular vent itself has a diameter of 1.9mm. This vent is sometimes referred to as a 'touch-hole'.
