A cast copper alloy scale from the chin strap of a 19th cavalry cap. The scale is B shaped with three straight edges and a double convex curve on the fourth. Adjacent to the longer straight edge are three circular attachment holes, one in each corner and one in the centre. It is 33.07mm wide, 21.2mm wide and 0.5mm thick; it weighs 2.43 grams. It is similar to SOM-6F7563.
This object has been recorded because the findspot is close to the edge of the military area on Salisbury Plain.
