An extremely worn and corroded 17th-century copper-alloy post-medieval, Type 2, rose farthing of Charles I (1625-1649 AD; North 2291). This coin has a wedge shaped insert of a different alloy (brass?) put there to prevent counterfeiting.

One sherd of black burnished ware (Poole/Wareham fabric). Reduced black fabric with abundant rounded quartz sand temper. The surfaces are quite abraded, but there are traces of burnish on both the interior and exterior surfaces. A curving rim sherd from a lid (WA type 25). An incomplete copper alloy T-shaped bow brooch.The bow and a fragment of the pin only remain. The wings are short and tubular, housing the axis bar for a hinged pin, the wings are filled with a white substance. The front of the wings are both decorated with three incised lines. The head of the pin is still attached to the bar in a notch between the wings. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle frame. An oval, double looped D-sectioned frame with two knops on each loop. There is also a slight knop on the edge of the frame at each end of the bar. The bar is narrowed from the frame. The back is flat and undecorated. The pin is missing and the buckle has been burnt. Similar buckles are recorded in Whitehead, R, 1996, p. 63, see No. 382. Date: Post-medieval - mid 16th to mid 17th century Dimensions: 39.15 mm in length, 23.8 mm in width, 3.85 mm thick and weighs 7.92 grams.

A Post-medieval copper-alloy spur rowel. The rowel consists of seven points, each point is seperated by moulded incisions leading towards a central circular perforation. There are traces of gilding on one side. The rowel is 39.25mm in length, 38.25mm in width, 3.25mm thick and weighs 11.87grams. A parallel can be seen in Read, 1995 fig 805-6 which has been dated to the 16th - 17th centuries.
