One sherd of black burnished ware (Poole/Wareham fabric). Reduced black fabric with abundant rounded quartz sand temper. The surfaces are quite abraded, but there are traces of burnish on both the interior and exterior surfaces. A curving rim sherd from a lid (WA type 25). The rim has a dropped flange is handmade and abraded. 3 sherds of Black Burnished ware. Grey to black reduced fabric with abundant rounded quartz sand temper. The surfaces are generally burnished. Poole/Wareham fabric. All the sherds are slightly abraded. The vessels were handmade and comprise of 3 rim sherds of WA type 20, "dog-dish". Two sherds have no visible decoration and date from the 1st to the 4th century. Ten ceramic sherd from Roman wheel thrown samian ware vessels dating to the period c. AD 43 - 250. The sherds consist of eight body shers, one rim sherd and one base sherd. The sherds exhibit a well-fired orange core and are coated in a glossy dark orange-red slip which has been slightly abraded in places.
