An incomplete iron helmet of post-medieval date probably a English civil war lobster pot helmet. The helmet is 200mm in surviving height and 210mm wide and 300mm in length. The helmet is formed of two plates joined in the centre with a raised comb. A number of incomplete rivets survive within the two plates, internally they have square sectioned washers (12.6mm wide). A largely complete but damaged Roman iron hipposandal. The hipposandal is formed from a broadly rectangular plate which tapers towards the front and rear with two projections located on either side. The hipposandal has a flat sole. There are two incomplete side wings, at right angles to the sole. The heel is upturned at about 45 degrees and flares outwards. The heel terminates with a downward facing hook. The base of the sole is flat. The hipposandal has an uneven, corroded, dull brown surface. A hoard of 18 Roman iron tools Awl A seemingly complete iron awl of Manning's type 4a measuring 148.60mm in length and weighing 30.66 grams. The tapering pyramidal head in square is cross section (10.05mm maximum width and tapers to the point (2.35mm maximum width). The stem is circular in cross section and tapers to the tip. Four iron miniature hammers of late Roman date.Two of the hammers are formed from a basic construction resembling that of T shaped nails although due to their form and the excavated assemblage they are miniature votive models of hammers. Both have incomplete curved loops at the tip of the handle. The hammer heads are rectangular and square in cross section. The larger example (a) is 59.25mm in length, 39.85mm wide and weighs 20.19 grams. The smaller example (b) is 48.35mm in length, 36.00mm wide and weighs 13.56 grams.
