A Byzantine gold solidus adapted into a pendant by way of a gold strip soldered to the top of the coin. The pendant was designed to be worn with the reverse visible as the loop is attached at 12 o'clock on the reverse, 5 o'clock on the obverse, rendering the portraits upside down.
Coin: gold solidus of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine, minted at Constantinople.
