An incomplete copper alloy late Roman amphora-shaped military strap-end. Both the upper end (broken above flanking peltate or 'kidney-shaped' handles) and tip are missing. An incomplete Roman (AD 275-410) copper-alloy probable nail-cleaner strap-end, missing is back plate with an incomplete rectangular plate and bifurcated end. The strap end has an incomplete rectangular plate which terminates in two crescent shaped lugs. A fragment of a copper-alloy cast probable strap end of Roman date. The artefact consists of the slightly concave terminal which tapers to a point. It is decorated on either edge with a longitudinal incisions which runs to the point. The central section is decorated with two longitudinal incisions and a central shallow groove (max width of 3.05mm). Below the groove are two transverse incisions. The reverse is concave and undecorated. The artefact is 21.2mm in length, 7.3mm wide, 2.95mm thick and weighs 1.23 grams.

A complete cast copper-alloy medieval composite strap-end with stylised collared acorn knop terminal. The forked spacer survives at a maximum length of 30.4mm including the knop. The acorn knop is small, basic and faceted on both faces in the longitudinal plane; there are transverse file marks on both sides. Fragment of a sheet copper alloy strap end of probable Medieval date. The strap end is incomplete and is sub-rectangular in plan, the sides taper slightly towards the tip where there is an old break. The top of the strap end has been lost, the remander is bent outwards slightly from the break. There is a slight vertical ridge on either side. One edge has been bent outwards slightly at the centre. The strap end is 21.95mm in length, 13.95mm wide, 1.2mm thick and weighs 1.0 grams.

A cast copper alloy medieval strap end. Shield shaped strap end with bar mount. The object consists of a rectangular sheet, one end of which is pointed. The other end is has been bent over and runs along the main body of the strap end for c. 2mm. Just above the point is a rivet attached to a further sheet which is square in plan. The strap end is 12.7mm long, 9.1mm wide, 3.6mm thick and weighs 0.6g.

A complete copper-alloy strap end with central raised dome of medieval date. The strap end is broadly ractangular tapering from the centre of the strap end (19.3mm) to 10.85mm at the tip. The strap end has been constructed from a copper-alloy sheet which has been folded inwards upon itself (the fold is located at the tapering end). It measures 65.95mm in length, 16.65mm wide, 5.2mm thick and weighs 11.65 grams. The strap end is held together with two c.2.2mm diameter rivets, one at either corner of the open end. A copper alloy plate from a medieval strap end dating to the period c. AD 1150 - 1450. The strap end would have comprised of three plates which are held together at each end by a rivet. The surviving plate is bent in places with a circular perforation at the top. The strap end is 17.1mm in length, 14.35mm wide, 0.8mm thick and weighs 0.49 grams. Similar examples are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (2002), p.142, fig.93.

The main body of the strap end is rectangular 10.3mm in length and 13.5mm wide with a expanded collar before projecting into a loop with a circular perforation (4.9mm internal diameter). The strap end would have had two seperate copper-alloy rectangular plates attached to the main body through a circular sectioned rivet. the rivet and one plate survives. A further perforation is located at the tip of the plate. The strap end is 29.6mm in length, 13.5mm wide, 3.25mm thick and weighs 4.41 grams.

A composite copper alloy strap end, made by folding the metal sheet in half lengthways. The strap end is tongue shaped with a small rounded knop at its terminus. The leather would have been secured by a single rivet at the opposite end - the rivet itself does not survive. The strap end has been silvered and this is mostly intact. The strap end measures 16.73 x 12.39 x 3.52mm. It weighs 2.71 grams. Egan & Pritchard (1991) date this type to the 14th century.

A copper-alloy Medieval forked spacer for a composite strap end dating to the 13th-14th centuries. The forked spacer is hemispherical or 'U' shaped in plan and flat in section, and terminates in two pointed curved ends which appear complete. A cast copper-alloy Medieval composite strap-end (c. 14th century AD). It is formed of a sheet spacer plate between a pair of sheets; the spacer plate is slightly shorter than the sheets. The strap-end is sub-rectangular, narrowing very slightly to an angled end with triangular terminal protrusion. It is held together by a pair of rivets, one central at the attachment end, the other central just above the terminal. The object can be dated to the later 14th century by comparison with a parallel illustrated in Egan and Pritchard 1991 (142; ref. 660).
