Paul Cannon (pers. comm.) comments: 'I can add some further information about this coin. As stated the year on the coin is AH 1223 (equivalent to AD 1808) but this is the accession year of Mahmud II. The regnal year is also recorded on the coin as '28'. It was therefore struck in AH 1251 ( AD 1836). The mint is recorded as Constantinople (Istanbul). From the size and weight it is a 10 para coin.
