An incomplete iron helmet of post-medieval date probably a English civil war lobster pot helmet. The helmet is 200mm in surviving height and 210mm wide and 300mm in length. The helmet is formed of two plates joined in the centre with a raised comb. A number of incomplete rivets survive within the two plates, internally they have square sectioned washers (12.6mm wide). The front of the helmet is incomplete in places, the front plate extends 55mm from the raised comb. The front edges has been curled downwards slightly, at this point the helmet is 0.75mm thick.
