A fragment of a copper alloy Roman figurine dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. Only the hand survives and is broken off at the wrist. The break at the wrist meaasures 7.25mm in width and is 5.6mm thick. The hand is holding a rectangular box with an open lid. The raised lid is slightly bent. The fingers are wrapped around the box and pointing upwards. The box contains incence depicted as numerous circular projections. The fragment is similar to the hand of a complete figurine of a genius or priest in the British Museum. (Pers. comms. Ralph Jackson) C.f. Watters, H. B, Catalogue…

On the left hand side of the ventral face there are a number of losses revealing the light blue mottled patina. The retouch is abrupt long parallel removals at the tip of the dorsal face. The flint has a white patination with patches of iron corrosion. Date - Neolithic to early Bronze Age 37.7 mm in length, 26.75 mm wide and weighs 13.87 grams.

The retouch is semi-abrupt, with small scalar removals on the left hand side of the dorsal face. The flint has a mottled blue-grey patination with patches of iron corrosion. Date - Neolithic to early Bronze Age 33.75 mm in length, 16.0 mm wide and weighs 2.64 grams.

A flint awl or borer, probably of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Secondary flake, with cortex remaining along the left edge of the dorsal face. The object tapers to a point at the distal end. There are several long removals on the dorsal face. There is evidence of retouch on the dorsal face, possibly semi-abrupt parallel retouch. The flint is mid to light grey in colour with a speckled, white patina. The flint has a striking platform, a prominant bulb of percussion and a large bulbar scar. Two handmade sherds from 12th to 13th century cooking jars, consisting of one rim sherd and one body sherd. The fragments have a general mid orange fabric with some red fabric with some reduced grey cores. The fabric has been tempered with c.20 - 25% poorly sorted small to medium, angular and rounded quartzite rocks, chert and flint. Voids are evident in the fabric which are consistent with missing temper. The rim sherd has a thickened rim on the outerside with a stright flat top. Date Medieval 12th - 13th century Weight 12.56grams.
