Fragment of a cast copper alloy object with Latin inscription. It is flat and rectangular, with a broad transverse groove across the complete short end. Along the two long edges are double parallel grooves with oblique incisions between, forming a cable pattern. The inscription is written in seriffed capital letters on two lines, divided by a double parallel line with a bold zigzag line in between, apparently made from a series of V-shaped punches. Plain cast copper alloy finger ring. The join is visible but there is no inscription. The ring dates to the eighteenth century and may have been worn by a child or a teenager - the size of this ring suggests this to be the case - as by this time most adults were able to afford gold or silver. Plain hoops were often preferred.
