A medieval silver-gilt annular brooch. The frame, cut from flat metal, engraved with four heraldic shields placed equidistantly, with a series of crosses between each shield. The pin survives, looped around a constriction, although the end is broken off. Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of the mercury gilt brooch indicated a silver content of approximately 96%.

An incomplete copper alloy continental plate brooch of the Roman period (c.AD43-125). It is incomplete, consisting of two circles, joined by a linear strip. Each circle is flat and is decorated on the front with a single ring and dot motif. The strip which joins the two circles is decorated with a simple moulded collar at each end and narrows slightly in the middle. A Medieval brooch, much distorted, with a small break in the frame. The frame is decorated with notches on its front surface to create the impression of twisted wire. The pin is intact. It is sword-shaped, and has a lozenge shape in cross section. The front surface is decorated with two twisted wavy lines. The brooch is silver and dates from the fourteenth century. Fragment of a copper alloy Roman bow brooch. Only the lower part of the bow remains, it is tapering towards the foot although the foot is missing. Some of the catchplate is visible on the reverse. On the front are 3 lozenge shaped panels in a vertical pattern. These are filled with orange enamel and the triangles on the edge are hollow as though they used to have enamel in also.

Cast copper alloy trumpet bow brooch, dating to the first century AD. The pin has broken just after the spring. The bow has broken just below the knee of the brooch. Fragment of a copper alloy Roman bow brooch. The brooch is badly corroded all over, the bow at the bottom is very thin due to this. The pin and the pin mechanism are both missing. It would have been on hinged on an axial bar fittting in the back of the head. Most of the catchplate has broken off but a small part can still be seen. Fragment of a copper alloy Roman bow brooch. The brooch has broken part-way down the bow so the foot and catchplate are missing. The pin and its mechanism have also broken off. The pin would have been hinged on an axial bar fitting into the back of the two tubular extensions of the head. The humped crest of the bow shows it is a dolphin style brooch. There is a central, concave line running down the centre of the bow from the top. Roman bow brooches were in use in Britain from the mid 1st century to the mid 3rd century. This style of brooch mainly dates to the mid-1st century.

Roman bow brooch with some blue and orange enamel remaining. A derivative of a Wirral/ trumpet type bow brooch. This is an unusual variation and has some nice detail remaining. Roman copper alloy Polden Hill booch fragment. The crest of the head is quite rounded and the bow tapers to a point at the end, although no foot remains. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Dragonesque brooch. This type of brooch is essentially Celtic in design but is Roman made and continued to be made until the middle of teh 2nd century AD. They are an entirely British type of brooch (Hattatt; 1982; 152). The brooch has a raised surface and a flat back. Two of the heads remain, there would have been three originally. Both the heads are broken, the hole (which represents the eye) is incomplete on both. The semi-circle central part of the brooch represents the body of the dragon and has a circular perforation.
