A copper alloy buckle and plate dating to the Medieval period, 1300-1500. The buckle frame is rectangular in plan, the side directly opposite the plate is rectangular with a groove for the pin, which is missing. The two shortest sides are curved. Attached to the side opposite the groove is the plate which is made from a folded sheet of rectangular metal. The plate has been broken and is filled with soil. A copper alloy rectangular buckle frame dating to 1720-1790. The frame is curved on the longest sides and have drilled holes on the inside for a seperate spindle, which is now missing. The object is undecorated and there is a break in the metal on one of the shorter sides. It is green in colour and weighs 17.8g. It measures 53.79mm in length, 48.53mm in width and 6.22mm in thickness. For a parallel see Whitehead, R. (1996) Buckles 1250-1800, 104, no. 665.

A copper alloy buckle from possibly for a shoe and dating to between 1720-1790. The buckle is sub rectangular in plan and ornately decorated with an interlace pattern. The central part of the buckle is highly corroded, it is possible to see that there was a central stem. The reverse of the object is undecorated. The metal of the frame is green in colour and the object weighs 9.9g. It measures 37.34mm in length, 31.58mm in width and 7.96mm in thickness. For a parallel see Whitehead, R. A copper alloy buckle dating to the middle of the Medieval period (1250-1400). The buckle is oval shaped in plan and it is missing the pin. There are two loped knops which flank a recess which would have been for the sheet metal roller, which is also missing. Directly opposite this is a straight bar, to which the pin would have been attached. In between the two ends are curved bars which give the object its oval shape. Cast copper alloy Early Medieval buckle dating to c. 900- 1100 AD. It is D-shaped in plan with a narrowed strap bar. The terminals of the loop are zoomorphic in form with the strap bar connecting two heads of animals, their mouths are open, almost as though they are biting the bar. These are stylised animals seen on various objects from this period and could be dogs/dragons/dolphins, it is difficult to see. They have a rounded head with inset eyes and an elongated snout. There is also the remains of a tongue, sub-triangular in plan, extending from the other side of the pin bar to the pin. Cast copper alloy Medieval buckle with a sheet plate. The buckle is oval in plan with a slightly pointed outer edge which has a groove where the pin would have sat. The pin is still present but does not quite reach the edge of the frame. The plate is formed from a rectangular sheet of metal folded in half over the buckle frame. There is a hole at the frame end where the pin sits. The plate is held together by a circular rivet half way down.
