A fragment of a probable cast copper alloy and iron padlock of early post-medieval date. The fragment measures 18.2mm by 20.6mm by 10.4mm and weighs 10.9g. It comprises a broadly cylindrical section with an oval cross-section which has a longitudinal circular-sectioned iron bar through the centre and an S-shaped arm on one side. There is an old break on the other side which may indicate the former presence of a symmetrical arm on the other side. On both front and back there are incised vertical and diagonal lines.
