Fragment of a post-medieval crotal bell. These bells date to the 17th and 18th centuries.
Only a small part of the bell remains but looking at its slight curve the bell must have been fairly big. It has been cast and the interior surface is smooth. Most of the exterior surface has worn/corroded away but some remains and incised decoration can be seen.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Copper alloy medieval purse hanger.
The hanger is complete and is a three arched example formed of a large semicircle flanked by two smaller ones. The ends feature collared expanded terminals. The artefact has a dark patina.
Purse hangers were freely swinging, held at each end, usually by a bar mount, to a girdle. When they were not used to attach purses to belts such objects were often used to attach knives. A close parallel can be found illustrated in Read (2001, 24; ref. 182). Other examples can be found in Egan and Pritchard (1991, 223; refs. 1197, 1198); these date to the se…

Medieval harness pendant made from copper alloy with some blue enamel remaining.
A lozenge shaped pendant whihc would have had an attachment loop at one corner, set perpendicular to the pendant. The loop is not present anymore but the base of it can still be seen. There is a large central cross which is outlined by blue enamel. It looks as though the area outside the cross was filled with blue enamel and that inside the cross was either a different colour or had no enamel. This type of harness pendant dates to around the 14th to 15th centuries.
