Lead grape shot from the Post Medieval period. It is sub-spherical in shape and has a slight protrusion which appears to be a casting sprue. Grape shot is a bag of squash ball sized lead balls fired from a cannon and looks like a bunch of grapes. It is often used by the navy but is used on land too. If it has been fired we would usually expect it to be a bit more beaten up as it smashes against the other grape shot in the bag as it is fired out. This is an interesting find and could indicate artillery.
