The object is a hooked tag of Early Medieval type, thought to date to the seventh to twelfth centuries AD. The object is made of cast copper alloy and is incomplete.
The object consists of an inverted sub-triangular plate and a small integral backward facing hook. The plate is incomplete due to an obliquely angled break in the right hand corner. This corner piece is now missing. Slight damage is also visible elsewhere around the edge of the plate. The width of the plate is 13.1mm, and the length is 20.4mm. The object is a fragment of a hooked tag dating to the early post medieval or 17th to 18th century (Geake, H. 2001 Finds Recording Guide, Version 1.1; August 2001, p.42). The object has been cast as one piece and is made of copper alloy. The object is incomplete.
The object comprises of two parts, a plate, and a loop set above the plate. The loop is trapezoid-shaped in plan and flat in section.
