A medieval silver penny of Edward II. The coin is a mule of class 11b1/11a2, Durham mint. Description: The coin is very worn and has some striking weakness in some areas. There are both rounded-backed and pointed-backed C's and E's, a crosier at the end of one arm of the reverse cross (at 12 o'clock) and a CIVI/TAS/DVN/ELM reverse legend. Measurements: Diameter 18.16mm Weight 1.06g. Discussion: The different styles of C and E indicate that this is a mule of a class 11b1 obverse with an 11a2 reverse.

A silver penny of Henry VIII, "sovereign type", second coinage, Durham mint under Bishop Wolsey. T.W. by the reverse shield. Initial mark Crescent. It therefore cannot be said with confidence whether this particular object was regar…

A silver penny of Henry VII, minted at Durham under Bishop Shirwood (Spink 2222). The reverse of the coin, however, appears to be an issue of Richard III, also minted under Bishop Shirwood, reading CIVI TAS DIR HAM, (Spink 2169) and is, therefore, likely to be a mule.
