Incomplete lead/tin alloy Post Medieval mount or badge. Originally circular in form with beaded knops set around the periphery; only one group of three knops survives at the 7 o'clock position on the front face, most of the rest being lost to old edge damage. The front face has a circular raised border with the monogram IhC (Greek letters - iota, eta, sigma) raised in the centre. The upper stroke of the h is horizontally barred to form a cross. Copper alloy Post Medieval knife terminal scale. Tongue-shaped with curved terminal end with the remnant of the corroded iron knife tang sandwiched between two external copper alloy plates. Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Copper alloy discoidal weight with convex sides. The weight has an even green patina with no formal discernable markings on either side. One side however, does have six nominally parallel lightly scored lines running across the face, probably done with a knife. The weight of 11.13g is not a discernable fraction of any standard unit of measure. The lack of diagnostic features means that only a wide date range can be assigned. Circa AD 500-1700.
