Post Medieval heavily debased silver half groat of Henry VIII (1509-1547), Third coinage, 1544-1547 AD, minted at Canterbury, North 1852. About one third of the coin is missing from old breaks, the poor composition of the coin and probably surface enrichment is causing it to laminate with the base silver outer layers containing an almost pure copper inner part which has corroded and split the coin.
