A slightly worn silver-plated copper-alloy contemporary copy of a Roman denarius of Tiberius, 'PONTIF MAXIM', 'Lyon' mint (AD 14-37; cf. R.I.C. 30; Reece issue period 1). The copper alloy can be seen in areas where the silver has flaked off. The plating on the reverse face is particluarly inconsistent around the edge. A worn and incomplete 1st-century BC Roman Republican denarius struck for Octavian by moneyer M [Vipsanius] Agrippa, 'M AGRIPPA COS // DESIG', at Gaul mint in 38 BC (probably RRC 534/1 and Sydenham 1331; Reece issue period 1). Just under less than half of the coin survives; it appears to have been split in two, resulting in a small loss to the surviving half. The surface of the coin is delaminating on both faces perhaps suggesting that this is a plated copy.
