A small, flat gold fragment with possible evidence of deliberate flattening of uncertain date. The fragment is sub-trapezoidal, with a very thin pointed oval cross-section. It appears broken at both shorter ends. Flattening seems to have occurred principally to the longitudinal edges. Measurements: length 12.5 mm, width 10.5 mm, thickness 0.5 mm, weight 0.97 g

A complete gold mourning ring with black enamel decoration and internal inscription, of post-medieval date, c. 1600-1750. The ring consists of a triangular sectioned gold hoop, with an exposed median ridge of gold. The exterior surface is decorated with heavy blue-black enamelling, which is lost in places, along with a trace of white enamel (probably from a depiction of a skull). A probable Middle Bronze Age (c.1500-1100 BC) solid gold bead of annular form and biconical profile with a central perforation measuring 2.9mm in diameter. It is max.7.6mm in diameter at the centre, narrowing to c.5mm diameter at either end, both of which show areas of damage. The bead stands 5.3mm in height and weighs 1.91g. A post-medieval gold finger-ring of 18th-century date, probably a wedding ring. The ring is a simple band of D-shaped cross-section, flat internally, and externally plain. On the internal surface are engraved initials TL and GL with saltire stops after each. The letters are open and decorated with hatching. Following the letters is the date Feb 6 1730, the upright of the 'F' of Feb is also hatched. The internal diameter of the hoop is 19.7mm.

A medieval gold finger-ring with five-pointed star bezel containing a blue stone, probably a sapphire. The bezel is faceted, with some bevelling on the lower surface too around a flat base. The shoulders are decorated with three engraved chevrons on each side with an inverted chevron below. These bound multiple finely punched annulets. The hoop has a rounded D-shaped cross-section. It is slightly distorted, but has been straightened since found squashed. It has an internal diameter of c. 17.3mm

There is an incised inscription running around about two-thirds of the inside of the hoop. A very worn, clipped and damaged earlier 17th-century gold post-medieval halfcrown of James I, London mint (1615-1616 AD; North 2095). This coin has been bent and torn as a result of old damage. It has been pierced through the obverse between the inner circle and the bust at around 9 o'clock. The hole is at around 10 o'clock on the reverse. The coin has been examined by the British Museum and, despite the piercing, it was not considered an item of potential Treasure (pers. comm. 8th May 2012).

A distorted Roman polygonal gold finger-ring, formed of a circular hoop with nine irregular lozenge-shaped facets of similar dimensions, all plain and undecorated. It can be classified as Henig's type IX. A similar finger-ring from 'Crawley area', Hampshire, was reported through the Treasure Act (Treasure Annual Report 2005/6, 64; ref. 133/2006 T150). The age of this ring, and the fact that it is made substantially of gold, means that it qualifies as treasure as stipulated in the Treasure Act 1996.

A Late Bronze Age penannular gold ring with hoop of circular cross-section; original decorative banding in broad stripes of yellow and paler gold are very worn and best perceptible near the inner surface. Roughness of gold at one terminal could be due to damage. The surface is heavily worn; scores and scrapes are likely to have occurred post-depositionally. A complete, roughly annular sheet gold bead. The plain bead has shallow biconical profile with slightly inturned inner edges. It has a central circular piercing. On one side it has been squashed slightly following probable post-depositional damage. Discussion: A similar bead from Harlow, Essex, was reported through the Treasure Act (Treasure Annual Report 2005/6, 17; ref. 6/2005 T150). Dimensions: Ext. dia.: 10.3 mm; height: 3.6 mm; weight: 0.44 g As the bead is of precious metal and is of prehistoric date it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
