A fragment from a broken cast copper-alloy strap slide (strap-fitting) from the medieval period c. 1350 - c. 1400. The object appears to be the outer edge of a trapezoidal or rectangular strap slide, in imitation of a contemporary bar mount. It has a central sub-circular lobe which is flat backed, and decorated with cross-hatched design on its front. The decoration is crude with the six transverse grooves somewhat angled, and the longitudinal grooves partial in places. Either side of the central lobe the object narrows and thins before terminating at each end in a raised and expanded,…

A bent copper-alloy elongated harness pendant suspension mount of medieval date, c. 1250-1400 AD. The object is essentially a long bar mount with one end folded over on itself slightly. At one end it terminates in a rounded end with central prominent lozengiform protrusion. Beyond protrusion is a perforation; the rivet is missing. Beyond this is a double cusped removal. At the other end, the metal has been perforated and then folded back on itself to create a pronged loop (visible on the underside of the object) within which a separate axis bar would have been retained for suspensi…

A copper-alloy early Roman plate brooch, incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin (mid 1st century AD). It is decorated on its upper surface with a central circular recess, within which is a central depression surrounded by a circle of small punched crescents. Adhering to this central recess is a certain amount of ferrous corrosion product, which seem to have resulted from the presence of a central iron rivet. This localised corr…
