Incomplete Early Saxon equal arm brooch dating to the period c. AD 450 - 500. The pin and parts of each arm are missing. The arms are flat and trapezoidal in shape. On the reverse of one terminal is an integrally cast double lug which retains the corroded remains of the iron axis bar and spring. One the opposite arm is the integrally cast catchplate which terminates in an old break. The arms are joined by a short arched bow. There are traces of file marks on the reverse of the bow. An complete double-looped buckle frame dating from the medieval or post-medieval period, c. AD1350-1650. The pin is missing. The frame is convex at the front and rear, bevelled internally and externally on both faces. Each loop is similar in size, oval in plan. The narrowed bar is triangular in cross-section and the centre of the bar is worn where the pin loop was situated. Similar buckles have been published and dated c. 1350-1650 (Whitehead 2003: 53). An incomplete copper alloy Colchester or Colchester derivative brooch dating from the early Roman period, that is the 1st or early 2nd century. Most of the body and the wings survive, but the catchplate, pin and spring/hinged mechanism are missing. We only have one image of the brooch and this image suggests that it was a hinged rather than a sprung mechanism. An incomplete copper alloy Dolphin (probably sprung) or Polden Hill brooch dating from the early Roman period, that is the later 1st or 2nd century. Only part of the bow and fragmented stubs of the wings survive: the foot of the brooch, catch plate, rearward facing hook, pin, spring and axis bar are all missing. A complete copper-alloy seal matrix dating from the medieval period, c.AD 1200 - 1400. The die of the matrix is circular with a hexagonal sectioned handle extending from the reverse. The handle tapers to a triple banded circumferential collar from which a tri-lobed terminal projects. A post-medieval symmetrical belt mount with integral lugs dating to the 17th century. The form is that of a 'bow tie', with oval outer lobes either side of an ovoid central boss. The surface is pitted and ferrous stained with some remnants of copper alloy.
