A cast copper-alloy button of early post-medieval date (c. Late 15th - Early 16th century). The button consists of a plain, solid, hemispherical head with no decoration. The integrally cast shank is sub rectangular in plan and rectangular / flat in cross section. It is placed centrally on the rear of the button and set at right angles to the long axis of the head. A small hole (internal diameter is 2.9mm) takes up most of the shank. A similar button can be found illustrated in Bailey (2004, 29, no. 7.39), which is described as Tudor in date c.1400 - 1500
