(extract from report by Edward Besly, NMGW) The finding of a scattered hoard of Romano-British coins was reported through the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS Cymru) to Amgueddfa Cymru in January 2014. Following a site visit on 26 March 2014, the coins were transferred to National Museum Cardiff for a report to H.M. Coroner as potential Treasure. Two coins of similar type had previously been reported from the spot through PAS Cymru (in 2012-13) and these were re-submitted for consideration as potential treasure in the light of the subsequent discovery. Roman copper alloy coin, a radiate of Carausius In Britain (c. AD 286-93), PAX AVG, Pax standing left holding branch and vertical sceptre. Obverse shows emperor in consular dress. Unmarked issue or possibly London (-//ML?). cf RIC V, pt 2, nos. 101 & 880 (consular bust right not recorded). 3.17g, corroded. This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.
