Description of Find Two silver groats (4d) of Queen Mary of England (1553-4), struck in London; weights 2.01g and 1.89g. The coins are only slightly worn and each has been folded twice, given a shallow ‘z’-shaped profile. The coins were found in fairly close proximity (18 inches apart). No associated objects were reported. Description of find The find comprises one gold and ten silver medieval English coins, of the reigns of Edward I-II (3), Edward III (2), Henry V (1) and Henry VI (5) (see appended Schedule). Metal content English silver coins of the 14th-15th centuries are typically of silver of high fineness, in excess of 90% Ag by weight.
