A complete silver crown from the reign of Elizabeth I (AD 1533-1603), third issue, dating to AD 1601-1602. The obverse shows a crowned bust of Elizabeth I facing left with a legend reading ELIZABETH D G ANG FRA ET HIBER REGINA. The reverse depicts a square garnished shield over a long cross fourchée dividing the legend, which reads POSVI DEVM ADIVTOREM MEVM. The coin measures 42mm in diameter and weighs 28.67 grams. An incomplete lead ampulla of Medieval date. The lower part of the vessel survives. It is sub-circular in plan, the only deviation from a circle being at the top, where a small portion of the parallel-sided neck extends upwards. One side bears a relief-moulded crown surrounded by a raised border. The angled outer edge of the ampulla is decorated with a moulded pattern of parallel ridges and interspersing grooves.
