A complete cast copper-alloy stirrup strap-mount of the late early-medieval period, dating from c. AD 1000 - AD1100. Description: The mount is pentagonal in form, each side of the plate has a triangular projection with small projecting knops at the top, middle and bottom, the upper knops flank the suspension loop. There are three circular rivet holes one at the apex and two at each end of the lower edge which has a flange set at right angle on the reverse. The base is very slightly concave. A corroded and incomplete cast copper alloy stirrup strap mount, 27.67mm in length and of Williams Class A Type 10A dating to the 11th century AD. The mount is convex and sub-triangular in shape, with two large drilled rivet holes on the lower edge. The front has a moulded motif of a beast (lion or dog) facing left, with front paw raised and head bent back and facing upwards with open jaw. A complete cast copper-alloy and iron Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup strap mount of Williams' class A, type 11c, dating c. 1000-1125. The mount is broadly triangular in plan, with a straight base and slightly curving sides that extend outwards from a circular perforated lug (now clogged with iron corrosion products) at its apex. An incomplete Early Medieval (Anglo-Scandinavian) to Medieval cast copper alloy harness link or strap distributor (1050-1200 AD). The distributor has four short arms in the form of an equal armed plain cross, sub rectangular in cross section, slightly convex at the top and flat on the underside. At each end of the arm there would have been a sub-circular loop with a sub-circular aperture. On this example, one loop is incomplete and the other three are missing due to breaks. An Early Medieval cast copper-alloy fitting, probably a knife scabbard chape, dating to the 11th century. The chape has an abstract zoomorphic openwork form which represents a horse. In plan the chape depicts the horse in profile running right or left depending on which side is viewed. The head represents one curved side of the chape and the front legs the other. The side panels of the chape depict the body of the horse, tail and hind legs. A triangular-shaped fragment of a cast copper alloy Type 2 cheek piece, dating to the late Early Medieval period (c. 1020-1100 AD). Type 2 cheek pieces are characterised by their long projection and ball end similar to KENT-6AD813, KENT-59B810 and SUSS-C989B3. The fragment is very worn and the metal is reddish-brown in colour. For further related examples cf. Williams (FRG Datasheet 39), which supports the suggested date above.

A fragment of an Early Medieval cast copper-alloy zoomorphic stirrup terminal of Anglo-Scandinavian association, dating to c. 11th century AD. The stirrup terminal is of semicircular cross-section which encloses traces of the iron stirrup arm in the hollow shaft on the reverse and a small supporting ledge. The stirrup terminal is decorated in the form of an animal's head, with an elongated snout with traces of curved nostrils at the end that flare outwards.
