A copper-alloy Colchester (one-piece) brooch of AD c. 25-c. 60 (cf Hattatt 2000: fig. 155, no. 1456). The head of the brooch is only slightly wider than the bow. The wings have a flat underside, at the centre of which is a projecting remnant of the integrally-cast spring. Above this, bent backwards, is a rearward lug, the base of which does not touch the top of the bow. The bow is wide at the top, the sides converging to a pointed foot, where there is the remnant of a catchplate. A bronze unit of late Iron Age date. This is probably an 'Uncertain Northern Bronze' (cf. British museum nos. 2450-2452/Van Arsdell no. 1615). Van Arsdell suggests a date of c. 40BC-c. 37BC for this coin. It is worn, corroded and incomplete. It measures 10.5mm in diameter, 1.8mm thick and weighs 0.52g.
