Incomplete Roman copper-alloy finger ring fragment with glass setting, dated AD c.100-300. Oval bezel with high straight sides tapering to the hoop which is broken off. Blue-green glass setting damaged, apparently heat affected and with part broken away; there is a narrow line of red around part of the edge of the glass where it meets the bezel - posibly corrosion product connected to the type of adhesive used. Bezel length 13.8mm, width 9.6mm, thickness 8.5mm, overall thickness including broken hoop 11.4mm, weight 3.9g.

Medieval cast copper alloy bar strap mount, complete. Central circular, domed lobe, decorated with three beaded transverse lines on the obverse and hollowed on the reverse; smaller circular lobes at opposite ends, each pierced to take rivet; only one copper alloy rivet surviving and this is flush on the obverse, 3.8mm long, and splayed at its end on the reverse; maximum thickness of strap c.0.7mm. Dark green patina. Length 3.2mm, width 12.5mm, thickness across centre 3.4mm, overall thickness including rivet 5.5mm, weight 1.9g.

A selection of eleven, small flints in this assemblage, with three photographed. Mesolithic.

One, of the two pieces appears to be a small scraper, of a translucent grey flint, with bulb and waves of percussion on the Ventral face, and traces of cortex on the Dorsal, some retouch along the outer edge.
The second piece, a blade also in a translucent grey flint, traces of cortex along one side, and possible chipping platform, triangular in section. No obvious signs of retouching.

An incomplete Early Medieval cast copper alloy broadly globular pin. The head consists of integrally joined together hexagons forming a globular protrusion. The head has been decorated with circular indentations with pellets inside, or a ring and dot motif. There is a small collar at the base of the head that protrudes slightly. The shaft is narrow and circular in section, it protrudes from the centre of the collar at the base. Other examples of this type of object have been recorded on the database including YORYM-0AA508.

An incomplete, cast copper alloy tuning fork. Dating to the post medieval period. One of the prongs or tines is missing completely having broken off at the shoulder below the handle. This handle is diamond shaped with a flat holding surface. From the image the object appears smooth and worn.

A cast copper alloy, Roman Trumpet brooch, dating to 1st - 2nd A.D.
The reverse of the bow head is concave with a vertical, perforated lug which extends to a point above the bow foot. Part way down the bow is a large knob, from below which the catchplate would have extended. Pin and spring missing. Surface badly worn.

An incomplete copper-alloy medieval D-shaped buckle frame (c. 1350-1400). At the rounded outer edge of the frame is a collared knop. The pin is missing. The pin bar is recessed for missing plate, and worn in the middle from the action of the pin. Along the outer edge on either side and just above the pin bar, are two small projecting triangular spurs.. cf. Egan and Pritchard 1991, page 94, See also WAW-FC8378 to compare photograph to this object, and LANCUM-959CE6.

Conical weight
A small cast, or crudely formed, conical lead perforated weight, probably dating from the Medieval or Post Medieval periods, about AD 1100-1800. The weight is of sub-conical form, and has a hole running from the apex to the centre of the base. The hole is wider at the base and is not central, making the object unlikely to be used as a spindle whorl.
The weight does not fit obviously into any standard systems of weight measurement, even allowing for a possible missing suspension loop. It could be a weight for a specific purpose, or a weigh…
