It has a tapering square shaped hole through its mid point (4.5mm x 4.2mm) and has no sign of decoration, casting seam or casting spur. It is a light grey colour with a relatively thick surface patina. It is most likely to be a one ounce weight but could possibly be a counter / balance weight from a knife or dagger. A cast lead alloy weight with a circular cast hole and transverse bar across the centre. The upper surface is domed whilst the reverse is broken revealing a hollow centre. One long edge has a irregular oval shaped socket and it seems most likely that this weight was cast onto a larger object. As such it is most likely to be of a modern date (1600-1800) The weight measures: 26.2mm in diameter, 16.7mm high and weighs 32.11 grams
