Description:
A complete silver whistle dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1600-1700).
The object is formed of sheet metal and is cast as one piece into a broadly cylindrical shape with a tapered end to form a D-shaped mouth piece. The other end is rounded. Towards the centre of the tub is a cut D-shaped sound hole and in the centre of the underside is a loop with a single chain link threaded through.
The whistle is well decorated. The rounded end cap is decorated with raised pellets in the form of a sexfoil with pellet in the centre. The back end is decorated with a band …
