A cast copper alloy U shaped staple or loop of unknown date, probably post 1700. The terminals of the loop taper and expand with a series of circumferential ridges, at the end is a globular point. The two terminals differ in size, one being much smaller, but remain similar in shape. The loop is of a regular thickness and width throughout. It measures 85.6mm length, 10.4mm wide and 11.4mm thick. The function of this artefact is unclear. It is most likely to be agricultural in nature but unusual as it is formed of cast copper alloy. A direct parallel has not been found.
