An incomplete late Bronze Age socketed axe head. Around 90% of the axe head is present, with damage around the mouth. The axe head has a square socket, with three raised ribs. The internal socket measures 26.1 mm by 23.4 mm. A single collar is present, 9.1 mm beneath the mouth. A loop is present on the side.

Circumstances of Discovery
In August 2011, a group of three prehistoric copper alloy objects were found in West Yorkshire. All three objects were socketed axeheads of Late Bronze Age date, dispersed by ploughing. Two of the axes (Nos. 2 & 3) were found within 0.3m of each other. A further axe (No. 1) was found further away (c.5-15m distant).

Description: 1. Fragment cut from a sub-triangular ingot or bar (section 16mm x 10 mm; weight 4.43g).
