A fragment of a post-medieval candle snuffer consisting of a fragment of an arm and the extinguishing blade. The blade is hemispherical, it is 32.25mm in length, 18.9mm wide and 2.0mm thick. The handle is broadly D shaped in cross section and tapers towards the blade. Below the break is a circular perforation. The upper side of the handle is decorated with three transverse grooves separated by two concave recesses. The lower section of the handle is flat and undecorated. Incomplete cast lead alloy (pewter) funnel from a post-medieval (1600-1800) candle snuffer. The snuffer is conical in profile being formed from six panels. It is abraded at the top where it would have joined with a hinged bar. The bell of the snuffer is undecorated and base is heavily abraded. It is a dark grey colour with a patchy patina which covers most surfaces. The most abraded edges are laminating. The candle snuffer measures 27.2mm length, 25.3mm diameter at mouth, has an internal depth of 21.1mm and weighs 11.18 grams

Incomplete cast copper alloy candle snuffer / wick trimmer of probable later post-medieval or early modern date (1550-1700). The candle snuffer is similar in form to a pair of shears / scissors in that the two blades are joined by a square headed iron rivet at the junction between the blades and handles. Incomplete cast copper alloy funnel from a post-medieval (1600-1800) candle snuffer. The snuffer is conical in profile with a small U shape indentation at the top. It is decorated with a double circumferential band from which extends a small loop. The body of the snuffer is also decorated with a series of similar incised circumferential lines. The surface of the snuffer is slightly corroded with traces of iron staining (possibly from the other fittings). The surface is a dark green colour with a patchy patina which covers most surfaces.
