Republican denarius struck by the moneyer L. Aemilius Lepidus Paullus in Rome in 64 BC. The obverse has been countermarked with 3 symbols arranged in a triangle. These symbols are struck over the veiled head of Concordia. The symbols are arranged unevenly and seem likely to be an S above a D and cross or X. On the reverse there is also a possible countermark in the upper left hand quarter. This mark is deeply punched and seems to be an elongated irregular cross (X) or possibly a throne?
