Silver cut half penny of John, probably Class 5b -6a, Mint Chichester, moneyer unknown. 1204/5-1217. The dating of this coin is based on the style of the closed E on the obverse, with a very long central bar (fig. 10 North) , and the closed C with an ornate closure (fig 27). The form of these letters are used during class 6 although the use of the closed E is only recorded in Class 6a. However, the mint at Chichester is only open during the period of Class 5b (1204/5 - 1209).
