Object type: PLAQUE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: County of Herefordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast copper alloy medieval enamelled and gilt heraldic mount or applique / plaque (1200-1350). The plaque is poorly preserved with the upper surface being heavily eroded and corroded. In shape the plaque is sub-triangular / shield shaped with the upper surface being slightly domed and edges faceted. Object type: RING
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: County of Herefordshire

Cast copper alloy ring of probable Roman - Modern date (50 - 1800). The ring is circular in plan and lentoid (hexagonal) in cross section. There are traces of irregular file marks on several surfaces. There is no obvious cast or incised decoration present. A slight thickening of the ring is present on one edge - this maybe remains of a casting jet. The ring is a dark - mid greenish grey colour with a well developed patina which covers all surfaces. The patination of the metal would suggest a Medieval or later date. The function of the ring is varied (sacking ring, curtain ring etc) an…
