A cast copper alloy artefact of unknown function of probable Roman date. The artefact is irregular in plan and flat in profile. A single cast beaded / raised rib separate the plate into two parts, either side of this rib are marks that might be described as laureate wreaths. The reverse is plain and undecorated. The artefact is a mid grey green colour with a well formed patina - it is recovered from an area rich in later Roman artefacts and coins.
The artefact measures 19.1mm length, 24.1mm width, is 2.3mm across the plate and the rib projects 0.6mm. It weighs 4.01 grams

An incomplete cast copper alloy artefact, most probably a folding razor or knife dating from the later Roman period (200- c. 400 AD). The fragment is rectangular in shape and tubular in form one terminal is broken and corroded the opposing is rectangular with a spatulate shape and decorated with double transverse bands and vertical beaded lines. One edge has a distinct V shaped groove which would have held the razor blade when closed. Unusually, a single hole passes through the terminal from the body of the knife. A cast copper alloy finger ring with blue glass setting held within a raised collet / bezel of Roman date (100-400 AD). The hoop of the finger ring has been distorted by movement within the ploughsoil. It was originally oval but now is irregular and distorted. The cross section of the hoop is rectangular with rounded edges. There is no obvious cast or incised decoration present. All surfaces have been finished and there are no file marks present. there is also no evidence for internal wear facets on the ring from use. Cast lead or lead alloy weight of probable medieval or post medieval date (1300 - 1700). The weight is sub-circular in plan and sub-triangular (conical) in cross section. Through the centre of the weight is a vertical hole which is circular (4.4mm) at the base . This hole may have had a wire or cord passing through it to aid safe-keeping and storage. The weight is undecorated although the sides are heavily worn and partially faceted. It is a mid grey colour with an even patina that covers all surfaces. This patinated surface has been marked and abraded in the soil.

An irregular cast lead alloy vessel repair (pot mend) of probable Roman date (50-400). In plan the repair is broadly oval and has an abraded H shaped cross section. These types of mend were used during many different periods but this example has been found with other datable Roman finds
The vessel repair measures 28.5mm length, 20.6mm width is 10.3mm thick and weighs 33.38 grams. The H section has a groove of variable width - most regularly 3.4mm wide.

The bowl from an incomplete copper alloy spoon of Roman date (probably 100 - 300 AD). The bowl of the spoon is incomplete, the edges are worn and also torn. Originally it was probably a sub-oval (pear / lyre) shaped in plan and is crescent shaped in cross section. The junction with the stem is lost and the depth of the bowl cannot be suggested. The spoon is a mid green colour with a well preserved 'thick' surface patina. The head of the button and loop fastener is rectangular in plan with two cast triangular 'pierced' holes through the centre. In cross section the frame of the fastener is oval or D shaped. The edges of the button head are slightly bevelled and have wear facets on one edge. A cast copper alloy fragment from the mid point of the bow of a Roman Trumpet Brooch AD 50-175. The head and foot of the brooch are lost and all that survives is the heavily abraded mid-point which comprises three swollen ribs with the central example being the thickest. Theer is no surface decoration left and the fragment is heavily abraded. It is a mid grey green colour with a powedery surface.
The fragment measures 18.2mm length, is 8.1mm wide and 7.1mm thick. It weighs 2.75 grams

A broken and distorted cast copper-alloy late Iron Age / La Tene III style Nauheim derivative brooch dated c. 50 BC - AD 100. A complete cast copper alloy headstud bow brooch of Roman date (100-200AD). The bow wings are complete and stub-like being rectangular in plan and D shaped in cross section. The pin / axis bar is held by a rolled spring case extending from the upper edge of teh rear of the wings - a vertical slot is cut from this spring case to accomodate the pin. The spring and pin are lost. The upper head of teh brooch has a drilled hole, through which an applied stud passes and is fixed by the two elements of teh shank being folded back upon themselves.
