A fragment of a silver medieval penny of Edward I (1272-1307) or Edward III (1327-77), belonging to either Edward I's Classes 1b-c, 2 or 9c dating AD1279-1300, or Edward III's 'florin coinage' dating 1344-51. Uncertain mint. Ref: Withers and Withers 2006: 12, 20-3, 34-5; Wren 1995: 85-88. The reversed-barred N on the obverse of this coin narrows the likely identification of the coin to those listed above.
