A worn and pierced possible lead coin or token, possibly a dupondius of Domitian (AD 81-96, Reece period 4). It is cast and uniface with a rough piercing near the edge scooped into the reverse with a knife. There is damage around the perforation. The metal is unusual - around the piercing it looks very similar to lead but elsewhere has the green-blue patina of copper alloy. Obverse: Radiate head right, possibly Domitian Reverse: 7-8mm scoop near edge resulting in very rough piercing about 3x2mm. Date: uncertain, possibly AD 81-96.

A Post-Medieval (1500-1800) two-part lead cloth seal, now in two parts. Together they measure 47.39mm in length (with the connecting strip) and weigh 6.6g. Disc one measures 21.10x18.89mm in diameter, with the remains of the squashed rivet on one side, which also retains the imprint of the fabric. On the other side it is worn almost smooth and also carries traces of a fabric imprint, and possibly a crowned rose. Disc two measures 19.54x18.36mm in diameter, with imprint of fabric on both faces.

Two Post-Medieval Ale tokens. Both are cast in lead alloy and uniface. 1. 19.47mm, 5.01g; Glass bottle left, fluted glass/goblet right, a crescent links the two perhaps intended to indicated a flow of wine or beer. Below the legend A L E 2. 17.11mm, 3.01g; Glass bottle left, fluted glass/goblet right, below a horizontal line creating an exergue which appears to be empty. These tokens thought to be later than about 1670 and continue into the 18th century. The example inscribed gives the best clue as to how they were used. Cf. M. Mitchiner, Jetons, Medalets and Tokens Vol. 3 c.1…

Three examples of used lead shot. 1. Oval, measuring c. 15x12mm and 10mm thick. It has a small depression on one face and impact damage on the other. 2. Circular, 10mm thick with a diameter of 9mm. It has a small depression on one face and impact damage on the other. 3. Oval, measuring 14x12mm and 5mm thick. It is domed on one face and flattened through impact on the other. These are typical of missiles used in firearms before the advent of cartridges and probably date to the 18th century.
