An uninscribed silver stater of South-Western type, attributed to the Durotriges. Rudd's 'Cranborne Chase' type (ABC 2157), dating to c.58 BC - AD 43. The coin is oval in shape and very worn with some traces of copper corrosion.

The silver content of these staters can vary over a quite wide range perhaps from 70% to 30%. Despite the traces of copper corrosion this appears to be a stater of good silver and is thus likely to be quite early in the series.
