Treasure case 2012 T243: Acquired by Somerset Museums Description The object comprises a gold coin set within an iron mount. The coin was produced in central-southern Britain during the late Iron Age, probably between about 40 BC and 20 BC. Although little detail of the original design survives, it is an example of a coin-type known as 'British Qb'. These coins are traditionally ascribed to the Atrebates, a people thought to have lived in the Hampshire area in the Iron Age.
