Silver denarius of Carausius (286-93) (Reece Period 14), VIRT[VS IN/INV] AVG, Emperor standing right holding globe in left hand and transverse sceptre in left. Mintmark: -//L. Mint of London. RIC V, pt. 2cf. no.9. RIC 9 (in the Ashmolean Museum) is almost identical, but has mintmark (M)L - it is just possible that there is no M. The coin is in good condition but is poorly inscribed and has been mis struck, which is prominent on the reverse. This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.
