A clipped and worn Medieval silver penny, possibly of Richard III (1483-1485), minted a York under Archbishop Thomas Rotherham (North 1991: 98, ref: 1686).
Obverse: [ ]; Crowned bust facing, T and vertical key by neck.
Reverse: [CIVI/T]AS/[EBO/RACI]; Long cross with three pellets in each quadrant, quatrefoil at centre of cross.
Diameter: 15.2mm. Weight: 0.75g. DA=12:1-2.
The coin has been pierced close to the centre with an irregular hole. It has been pierced from the reverse.
