An incomplete Late Iron Age to Early Roman cast copper-alloy vessel foot possibly from a bucket (c. AD 25-c. AD 150). The object is roughly semi-circular in plan and the outer arc has a width 47.2mm. At the side of this arc it is bevelled from tip to tip and each bevel has numerous file marks. On the opposite side to this arc there are two evenly-spaced semi-circular indentations. The top is broken but the surviving part is flat and has the remains of rivet hole. The base is bulbous at the centre. A rim fragment of a Roman ceramic Black Burnished ware vessel, possibly a 'dog-dish' or shallow bowl (c. AD 200-410). The rim is plain and rounded. Inclusions include abundant sub-rounded translucent quartz and very small flecks of mica. When complete the vessel would have had a diameter of about 260.0mm. There is now no indication of any burnishing or decoration. The surfaces are dark grey and the core is also dark grey. Darker patches are the remains of marine growth.
