Incomplete bronze looped palstave of Middle Bronze Age date (1500 BC - 1200 BC). Length 109mm, width, including the loop 41mm and 30mm thick. Weight 293.41g. A break has occurred about half way along the flanged butt end of the implement, possibly due to the apparent brittle nature of the material. This break is old. The butt has small slender flanges, raised to a maximum of 7mm above the septum which is about 10mm thick and the transverse stop-ridge is horizontal and at right angles to the flanges. Incomplete unlooped palstave of the Middle Bronze Age cast in a bi-valve mould. Length 169mm, maximum width, at blade end 37mm, maximum thickness, at the stop ridge 27mm. Weight 362g. Seven bronze objects recovered during a metal-detecting rally organised by Vectis Searchers on cultivated land in Yarmouth Parish, 14 December 2003. The finds were in ploughsoil at depths less than 25 cm. They were spread over an area measuring 7 x 3 metres. The seven pieces are in generally poor condition and five are fragments, probably having been broken recently. Looped palstave of Late Middle Bronze Age cast in a bi-valve mould. Length 151mm, maximum width, at blade end 38mm, maximum thickness, at stop ridge 28mm. weight 322g. The edges of the flanges are abraded and the whole cutting edge of the blade has been chipped in antiquity. Decoration on both sides of the blade beneath the curving stop ridge is in the form of a shield combined with a central rib to form a "trident" pattern. An incomplete and corroded Early Bronze Age un-looped palstave (c. 1500 BC-c. 1300 BC). The flanges, the butt and the cutting edge are incomplete due to breaks. The butt would have been rounded and the septum has a maximum thickness of 9.7mm close to the 'stop' and a minimum thickness of 3.8mm at the butt end. A fragment of a Middle Bronze Age copper-alloy palstave axehead of uncertain type (1500-1150 BC). This fragment is an incomplete blade which is now sub-triangular in plan. Some of the breaks appear to be recent. The sides of the blade flare evenly from the break at the top which has occurred just beneath the missing stop. The cutting edge is missing. The palstave has a gently flaring blade and the loop, butt and cutting edge are lost due to old damage. Decorative motif below stop is a sunken shield with a central rib. Four fine ribs occur on each face of the septum near the stop ridge. Reduced flange crests due to old damage. The shallow stumps of the loop remain on one side. At the top of the fan shaped blade, on both sides, there is a 'shield' and mid-rib combined to form trident decoration. These mid-ribs extend about half way down the blade.
